Jack Ma’s ABH is offering $1.5 million to African business heroes

Nigerian PR stars and other aspiring entrepreneurs will be looking at winning most of the $1.5 million reward in the 2022 Africa’s Business Heroes initiative.

Jack Ma and his Africa’s Business Heroes (ABH) program are Looking For Heroes who are leveraging business to create positive, sustainable impact in their communities to apply for the 2022 ABH prize competition.

ABH is the Jack Ma Foundation flagship philanthropic program in Africa geared towards providing support to entrepreneurs. Their mission has been to showcase and grow local talent who are creating positive impact in their communities and beyond, and inspire a movement of African entrepreneurship.

The program has a track record of providing grant funding, training programs, and broader support for the broad talented and promising African entrepreneurs.

Annually, 10 “business heroes” from across the continent are selected to compete for their share of $1.5 million in grant funding. During the competition, participants have also exclusive access to training, mentoring and learning programmes, as well as to a community of like-minded African business leaders.

Looking for Heroes Competition is geared towards entrepreneurs that are post-idea stage and have a 3-year track record. It will award a pool of $1.5 million in grant money to 10 exceptional finalists who are working to solve critical issues in their local communities and who demonstrate core values such as resilience, innovation, and leadership.

 The judges

Charles O’Tudor

PR and brand consultant, Charles O’Tudor popularly known as The O2ygenator has been appointed to be one of the judges by ABH.

Charles joined the Junior Chamber International Hall of All Time Fame of Exemplary Leaders, becoming the 4th individual to be so honoured in the history of the Nigerian chapter of the organization. He has also won the Brand Consultant of the Year Award, Nelson and Mandela Leadership Award.

On his appointment, he said: “I am honoured, yet humbled to be appointed into the ABH community of business professionals, investors and mentors. It’s indeed Africa’s time. “
